About Mulligan Solicitors

Mulligan Solicitors, located in Dublin, was set up by Doírín Mulligan to assist those who require professional legal advice and guidance in relation to family law matters, and to provide both individuals and professionals with advice and legal representation in relation to child care law.

Doírín Mulligan has a Bachelor of Civil Law from UCD and qualified as a Solicitor in 2004, she has worked primarily in the areas of Family Law and Child Care law for over ten years. Doírín’s approach to Family Law involves providing clients with information around all options available to them including Mediation, Collaborative Family Law, and the Court process. Doírín assists clients to make decisions around which approach is best suited to their needs.

Doírín undertook Collaborative Family Law training from the Law Society in 2007 and followed this up with a Certificate in Mediation from the National University of Ireland, Maynooth in 2011. Doírín has experience acting both as a mediator and a collaborative practitioner. Doírín’s experience and training equip her to provide clients with expert advice in how to deal with any aspect of family law.

Doírín has been involved in numerous Child Care Law cases in both the District Court and High Court and has a detailed knowledge of both the needs of the parties and approach of the Courts in these cases. Doírín’s view is that the Voice of the Child must be heard and that the best interests of the child must take priority.

Muriel is a public interest law solicitor, her practice rooted in a commitment to human rights. She has worked extensively with individuals and families with special needs to promote their interests and secure their rights and entitlements vis-à-vis service providers and Government Departments.

She has a special interest in judicial review, inquests and protecting the rights of vulnerable people to make their own decisions and obtain the services they need to live a full and rewarding life. Muriel has demonstrated courage to take on the establishment, challenge the status quo and be an advocate for change.

Throughout her career - spanning 17 years in the financial services and public sector industries and over 7 years as a practicing psychotherapist - Muriel has provided bespoke legal advice and services to private and institutional clients. She provides clear, solution focussed advice and supports clients through the legal process, always focusing on the rights of the person, at the centre of a given situation.

Muriel is a member of a number of advocacy groups representing people with dementia and their carers. During her time in private practice as a psychotherapist, she was engaged at a Dublin addiction support centre, supporting drug users, their families, staff, and volunteers. It is here she honed her excellent listening skills and developed her talent in distilling and identifying the pertinent issues, then working with clients to determine and pinpoint viable solutions. Muriel is regularly commended for a hands-on, collaborative approach and commitment to follow through.

Muriel joined Mulligan Solicitors in 2022 having completed an LLM in Human Rights with the Irish Centre of Human Rights at NUIG (NUIG enjoys a global reputation for excellence in the study and promotion of human rights).

Muriel is qualified to defend human rights cases before national and international courts, invoking Irish and international human rights mechanisms before the High Court and Supreme Court, the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Having joined us in January 2023, Michelle is the firm’s Practice Manager.

Michelle has more than 30 years’ experience of business development in a number of sectors, including the legal profession. She oversees our day-to-day operations, ensuring that Mulligan Solicitors runs smoothly and effectively.

Michelle’s expertise lies in client engagement and development strategies. She is an expert communicator, will often be your initial point of contact, and will continue to engage with you, to ensure efficiency, effective coordination, and client satisfaction. Michelle is available to assist you, with a view to making your experience with us as positive and beneficial as possible.
